📖 *A Thought from My Personal Meditation*
*Exodus 25*
.
⚖️ *A God Who Desires to Dwell Among His People*
.
As I was meditating on Exodus 25, one verse especially caught my attention.
.
📖 *”And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.”* — *Exodus 25:8*
.
What a beautiful truth!
.
The God who created the heavens and the earth, the One whom the universe cannot contain, desires to dwell among His people.
.
This was not Moses’ idea.
.
It was not the people’s request.
.
God Himself took the initiative.
.
From the very beginning of Scripture, we see this desire in the heart of God.
.
In the Garden of Eden, God had fellowship with Adam and Eve. Humanity was created not merely to serve God but to walk with Him and enjoy His presence.
.
📖 *”Enoch walked with God.”* — *Genesis 5:24*
.
In Enoch’s life also, we see this same truth.
.
Throughout Scripture, God continually reveals His desire to be near His people.
.
The Tabernacle was not merely a place of worship.
.
It was a visible reminder that God desired to dwell among His people.
.
This theme becomes even clearer in the New Testament.
.
📖 *”And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory.”* — *John 1:14*
.
In Exodus 25, God dwelt among His people through the Tabernacle.
.
But in the New Testament, God did something even more amazing.
.
Through Jesus Christ, God came and lived among us.
.
If God’s presence was revealed in a tent in the wilderness, in Christ God’s presence was revealed in human flesh.
.
People once came to the Tabernacle seeking God’s presence.
.
But in Jesus, God Himself came to dwell among humanity.
.
The desire of God to live among His people was most fully revealed in Jesus Christ.
.
Jesus later said:
.
📖 *”If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”* — *John 14:23*
.
What an amazing promise!
.
Through the Holy Spirit, God now dwells within His people.
.
Jesus also said:
.
📖 *”I go to prepare a place for you.”* — *John 14:2*
.
One day we will dwell with Him forever. But we do not have to wait until eternity to experience His presence. Even now, God desires to live with His people.
.
He guides us.
.
He comforts us.
.
He strengthens us.
.
He invites us to live in fellowship with Him.
.
When we look at the Bible as a whole, we can see a beautiful pattern.
.
In Eden, God dwelt with humanity.
.
In the wilderness, God dwelt among Israel through the Tabernacle.
.
In Jesus Christ, God came and dwelt among mankind.
.
Today, God dwells within believers through the Holy Spirit.
.
One day, He will dwell with His people forever in the new heaven and the new earth.
.
📖 *”Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people.”* — *Revelation 21:3*
.
From Genesis to Revelation, God’s desire has never changed.
.
He desires to dwell with His people.
.
In many ways, the entire story of the Bible can be summarized in one sentence:
.
*The story of the Bible is the story of a holy God making a way to dwell with His people.*
.
What a gracious God!
.
The greatest blessing is not God’s gifts, protection, provision, or even answers to prayer.
.
The greatest blessing is God’s presence Himself.
.
May we never take for granted this great privilege of living in the presence of God.
.
May God help us to love His presence, grow in fellowship with Him, and walk closely with Him every day.
.
