God Prepares Before He Provides (Exodus 22)

📖 A Thought from My Personal Meditation

Exodus 22

⚖️ God Prepares Before He Provides

Exodus 22 contains many laws about justice, responsibility, compassion, holiness, and worship. God teaches His people how they should live with one another and how they should honour Him.

But one question came to my mind.

Why was God giving all these laws while the Israelites were still living in tents in the wilderness? They had not yet entered the Promised Land. They did not yet own fields, vineyards, houses, or livestock in Canaan. Yet God was already preparing them for the life they would one day live there.

This reminded me of a beautiful truth:

God prepares His people before He provides for them.

Before giving them the land, God was shaping their character.

Before giving them possessions, He was teaching them responsibility.

Before establishing them as a nation, He was building justice, compassion, holiness, and wholehearted worship into their lives.

God was not merely taking Israel to the Promised Land; He was preparing Israel to live in the Promised Land.

The same is true in our lives.

Sometimes we wonder why God is teaching us difficult lessons before answering our prayers. Perhaps He is preparing us for the blessings He has already planned.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for your welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11

“I am God… declaring the end from the beginning… My purpose shall stand, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure.”

Isaiah 46:9–10

Our God is the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End (Revelation 22:13). He knows the end from the beginning. Nothing surprises Him. His plans are perfect, and His timing is always right.

If God is preparing you today, do not be discouraged. Trust Him. He is working in your character before He entrusts you with greater blessings.

God prepares before He provides. He teaches before He entrusts. He shapes our character before He reveals His promises.

May we patiently trust His plan, knowing that He is working all things according to His perfect purpose.

🙏 May the good Lord bless you with these words.

🌿 Have a blessed day!
