📖 A Thought from My Personal Meditation
Exodus 25:23–30
.
⚖️ The Table of Showbread: A Life of Fellowship with God
.
As I continued meditating on Exodus 25, another portion that had always remained somewhat mysterious to me was the Table of Showbread and what it represented.
.
From my childhood, whenever I read about the Tabernacle and its furnishings, much of it was difficult for me to understand. But today, as I meditate more deeply on God’s Word, I can see God’s heart being revealed through every detail.
.
In Exodus 25:23–30, God gives Moses detailed instructions regarding the construction of the Table of Showbread. Its measurements, materials, rings, poles, dishes, and utensils are all carefully described.

However, one verse particularly caught my attention:

📖 “And you shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before Me always.” — Exodus 25:30
.
The Table of Showbread was placed in the Holy Place, directly before the veil that separated it from the Most Holy Place, where the Ark of the Covenant was located.
.
As I reflected on this, a beautiful picture began to emerge.
.
The Ark represented the presence of God among His people.
.
The bread on the table represented the twelve tribes of Israel before God.
.
According to Leviticus 24:5–9, twelve loaves of bread were to be placed on the table continually. These twelve loaves represented the twelve tribes of Israel standing before the Lord.
.

Why would God command that these loaves always remain before Him?
.
Certainly, they reminded Israel that God was their provider. Every time the priests entered the Holy Place and saw the bread, they were reminded that their sustenance came from God alone.
.
But I believe the meaning goes even deeper.
.
Bread in Scripture often speaks of fellowship and communion.
.
In Exodus 24, we saw the elders of Israel eating and drinking in God’s presence after the covenant was established. Throughout Scripture, sharing a meal often signifies fellowship, relationship, and peace.
.
The bread placed continually before the Lord reminds us that God’s desire is not merely to provide for His people but to have ongoing fellowship with them.
.
The bread was always before Him.
.
What a beautiful picture!
.
It speaks of God’s people continually living before His presence, continually dependent upon Him, and continually enjoying fellowship with Him.
.
This bread also points us to Jesus Christ.
.
📖 “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger.” — John 6:35
.
Jesus is the true Bread from heaven.
.
Just as the showbread continually remained before the Lord, Jesus Christ is continually in the presence of the Father on our behalf.
.
📖 “Christ Jesus is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” — Romans 8:34
.
📖 “He always lives to make intercession for them.” — Hebrews 7:25
.
What a comforting thought!
.
Because our Bread of Life is always before the Father, we can come boldly to God at any time.
.
📖 “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace.” — Hebrews 4:16
.
We do not come based on our own righteousness, but through Jesus Christ, our mediator and intercessor.
.
Just as the bread was placed near the Ark, our lives find their true meaning when they remain close to God’s presence.
.
Whether we are walking through seasons of abundance or seasons of need, times of strength or times of weakness, we need the presence of God.
.
We need His fellowship.
.
We need His provision.
.
We need Him not only for our material needs but also for our spiritual life.
.
Without Him, we cannot be sustained.
.
The Table of Showbread reminds us that the Christian life is not merely about receiving blessings from God; it is about living in continual fellowship with Him.
.
May we never lose our hunger for His presence.
.
May we continually draw near to Him, finding in Christ our provision, our sustainer, our mediator, and our Bread of Life.
.
