📖 A Thought from My Personal Meditation (Exodus 11–13)
As I was meditating on Exodus chapters 11–13 today, one particular phrase captured my attention.
In Exodus 12:46, while giving instructions concerning the Passover lamb, God commanded:
“Nor shall you break one of its bones.”

At first glance, this may seem like a simple instruction concerning the Passover lamb. But when we read the rest of Scripture, we discover that it points far beyond the Passover in Egypt.
The Psalmist later wrote:
“He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken.”
Psalm 34:20
Centuries later, this prophecy was fulfilled in a remarkable way at Calvary.
Since the next day was the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders requested that the crucified men be put to death quickly. The Roman soldiers broke the legs of the two criminals crucified alongside Jesus. But when they came to Jesus, they found that He had already died. Instead of breaking His legs, one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out.
John records this event, saying:
“These things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: ‘Not one of His bones will be broken.’”
John 19:36
What amazed me most while reading this passage was the wisdom of God.
Long before Jesus Christ came into the world, God had already revealed His plan of redemption through the Passover lamb. Even the seemingly small instruction, “Do not break any of its bones,” was pointing to Jesus Christ, the true Passover Lamb.
From Genesis 3:15, where God promised that the Seed of the woman would crush the serpent’s head, to the Passover lamb in Exodus, we can see one continuous story of redemption. God had already ordained His perfect plan to restore fallen mankind into fellowship with Himself through His Son.
Nothing in God’s Word is accidental. Every promise, every shadow, and every prophecy finds its perfect fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
Oh, the depth of God’s wisdom and knowledge! Every detail of His redemption plan was established long before it was fulfilled. Hallelujah!
