📖 A Thought from My Personal Meditation (Exodus 3 & 4)
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As I was meditating on Exodus 3 and 4, one thing deeply touched my heart—the conversation between God and Moses.
For 40 years, God transformed the prince of Egypt into a humble shepherd. Those years in the wilderness were not wasted; they were God’s classroom. Moses had been emptied of self-confidence and prepared for God’s mission.
What struck me even more was this: during those 40 years, the Bible records no conversation between God and Moses. Yet God was silently at work, shaping His servant in the background. The silence did not mean God had forgotten Moses. It meant God was preparing him.
Perhaps some of us are in a similar season. We may feel as though we are walking through a wilderness, hearing little from God, unlearning old ways, and wondering why life has taken this path. But God is still at work. The desert is often His training ground, where He prepares His people for His purposes.
When God finally appeared to Moses at Mount Horeb, Moses poured out all his fears and excuses:
- “I’m not worthy.”
- “What if they don’t believe me?”
- “I’m not eloquent.”
- “Please send someone else.”
But every excuse was met with God’s assurance:
“I will be with you.”
Exodus 3:12
When Moses said he was not eloquent, God replied:
“Who makes a person’s mouth?… Is it not I, the LORD? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”
Exodus 4:11–12
From that encounter onward, Moses’ fellowship with God became deeper and deeper. The Bible later says:
“The LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.”
Exodus 33:11
That intimate relationship continued throughout Moses’ life. God guided him, corrected him, encouraged him, and remained with him until the very end. Even after Moses’ death, it was God Himself who buried him (Deuteronomy 34:5–6). What a remarkable testimony of a life lived in close fellowship with God!
May this be the desire of every believer—not merely to receive God’s calling, but to enjoy a lifelong relationship with Him, walking closely with Him, hearing His voice, and experiencing His presence every day.
If you are in a season of waiting, silence, or unlearning, don’t lose heart. Trust the process. The God who is preparing you in the wilderness desires to bring you into a deeper fellowship with Himself.
